Now, with Channel M2, bulletin board respondents no longer have to be skillful typists. For the first time, respondents have three ways to communicate instead of just one: 1) verbal (i.e. avg 200 words per minute via teleconference) and 2) non-verbal communication (i.e. via web conference), as well as 3) keyboard chat (i.e. avg 42 words per minute typing). Also, interviewers have the option of when and whether to simply monitor a self-administered discussion guide (e.g. “I’ll be monitoring here online from 2-6p today”) or interact with respondents (e.g. “Barb, want to call into our conference room? I’d like to know even more about what you meant”).
